Here’s two more beauties.
First up is a sign for a book sale and what is surely the first example of the hyphenation of the word ‘today’.
Next up is this frankly bizzare poster for a bakery. Even stranger than that, I found it in a pub toilet.

Came across these little beauties in national press recently. Shockingly bad ads, especially considering the (relatively recent) heritage of the brand. I was always a fan of their UK work, sadly in Ireland this is what we are subjected to.
And if you’re interested (I wouldn’t recommend it) here is the TV. No copywriter attached to [...]

Hard to know what to say about this. I very much doubt they got Muto in to help produce this, in fact all the details we get are found here at the guardian. The agency in question is RKCR who’s mantra states, ‘Brands need energy to survive’.
It really does depress me when agencies simply lift an execution [...]

I found this in the window of a local bakery in Ranelagh. It’s difficult to make out, but just under the actual cup cakes, there is a sign that reads, ‘Cup Cakes – as seen on Sex in the City’. Genius. And then to further enhance the culture significance of the cup cake, we have [...]

Obviously it’s impossible to ignore the current financial climate. Many people have lost their jobs and it’s even been suggested that entire agencies may disappear (discussed on scamp).
But what does it mean for us? How does it affect creativity? How can we survive? Well I’m not exactly in the position to be dishing out [...]

So i spotted this on my way to work and it naturally grabbed my attention. I thus did what I was told (advertising does work) and googled AMERO. Sadly it wasn’t what I expected. I was hoping to discover an underground conspiracy to control the world through a new currency, but alas no. Still it’s [...]

I’m not exactly his biggest fan, but you have to admire his cat-like reactions to dodge this attack.
After these scenes were aired two web designers went back to their flat and made a game. 24 hours later 2 million people have played it and over 46 million virtual shoes have been thrown at dubbya.
Pretty impressive [...]

I’ve always personally been interested in what exactly an Art Director is. What defines the role? Every Art Director is different and each has their own approach, skills and beliefs. So can there be a definitive explanation of the role?
In an attempt to shed a bit of light on this I’ve trawled around the ol’ [...]

I’m quite impressed at how quick they managed to turn this around. Apparently filmed in the company’s Guernsey offices, it was completed in two days on a shoestring budget (brandrepublic.com). Specsavers creative director,Graham Daldry, said: “The Barclaycard ad was like a gift to us. Their man could’ve so easily been cast for Specsavers.”
The casting is particularly [...]

So I’m a bit late on this, but here are some of the best and (starting with) the worst digital christmas e-cards (for want of a better term).
First up is McConnells christmas card. Thought I’d start of with an Irish agency. Nothing to say about this other than it’s woeful – if they’re trying to [...]
